Category C

HGV Class 2 'Rigid'

The HGV driving licence is generally thought of as the most in-demand and versatile commercial driving license to have because it is the category of vehicle normally chosen by a huge diversity of businesses to distribute localised and nationwide deliveries.

Passing the Category C driving tests will entitle you to drive any rigid vehicle up to 32 tonne.

Want to go straight for Category C+E (HGV Class 1) without needing to take a test for Category C (Class 2) please look at our ‘C+E Fast Track’ option

At RSM we provide all classes of  PCV driver training courses through our centres throughout the country. Our intensive driver training courses are provided on a ONE-to-ONE basis, although we are also able to offer a shared time training scheme upon request. Our experienced PCV driver training instructors will teach you to drive the vehicle both confidently and safely to a high standard beyond what is typically required by the PCV driving test.

Steps To Success

STARTER-PACK

Obtain Our 'Starter Pack'

RSM Driver Training’s Starter pack includes everything you need to start the process of becoming a HGV/PCV driver including medical appointment, online theory revision program (6 month subscription) and your HGV/PCV Theory Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception tests

MEDICAL-APPOINTMENT

Apply For Provisional Entitlement

After you have attended your medical you will need to send the D2 & D4 form, along with your driving licence photocard, to the DVSA in the envelope we provided. It can take up to 3 weeks for the DVSA to return your licence. In the meantime, we recommend that you study for your relevant theory tests.

Pass Your Theory & Hazard Tests

Let us know once your provisional licence has been returned and we will book your Theory Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception tests at a local theory centre to you. You will need to pass both tests to start your driving course with us.

Book Your Driver Training Course

Once you have passed the theories, we will be pleased to confirm a booking for you on your driver training course. After passing your practical tests, before you are able to drive commercially, you will need to complete Drivers CPC training in order to obtain your Drivers’ Qualification card.
