In 1997, Nick Harvey founded RSM Driver Training with a vision to provide top-notch commercial driving instruction. Initially operating from a modest yard on Canvey Island, the business started with just a couple of vehicles. Nick, alongside a couple of instructors, dedicated himself to preparing candidates for their driving tests. As the demand for Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) drivers increased, Nick’s training school expanded to meet the needs of this growing industry.
Growth & Expansion of RSM Driver Training
As RSM flourished, it outgrew its original location, and Nick decided to move to a larger depot at Basildon’s old Lorry Park. This move marked a significant turning point for the business, allowing him to recruit key personnel who have been instrumental in the company’s success and to acquire more training vehicles.
New Horizons: Dollymans Farm
The company’s continued success soon necessitated another move, first to Runwell Hall Farm in 2016 and subsequently to Dollymans in 2017 where it has operated from since. This relocation allowed RSM to further expand its services, including having onsite classrooms, a large concrete reversing area, and the ability to run certain tests onsite. New talented staff members joined, all becoming integral to RSM’s operations.
In recent years, RSM has branched into Ipswich, offering their driver training courses to the people of Suffolk.
