A minibus is classed as a small Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) with between eight and sixteen passenger seats, plus allowance for a trailer of up to 750kg.
If you passed your car driving test before January 1997, you may already hold a Category D1 restricted licence for social and pleasure use. However, if you plan to drive a minibus with over seven seats for hire or reward, you must pass the D1 driving test to gain the full PCV entitlement.
At RSM, we offer intensive, one-to-one Category D1 training, with shared training options available on request. Our experienced PCV instructors teach you to drive confidently, safely, and to a high professional standard — exceeding the requirements of the D1 driving test.
RSM Driver Training is the South East’s largest fully accredited commercial driver training school, specialising in Category D1 minibus licence training. With training centres in Essex and Suffolk, we deliver intensive, one-to-one PCV and HGV courses for individuals, businesses, and large organisations nationwide.
