Category C1 Ambulance & 7.5 Tonne Driver Training

Ambulance Driver & 7.5 Tonne Driver Training

The Category C1 licence allows you to drive rigid vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes — the smallest LGV category. Most drivers taking this course are preparing for a career in the Ambulance Service, where the C1 category is required to operate ambulances.

If you need the licence for commercial driving, you can apply directly for Category C (Class 2) or Category C+E (Class 1) without first taking the C1 practical test. However, there are still many job opportunities for 7.5 tonne lorry drivers, and passing your C1 test will entitle you to legally drive any rigid vehicle up to 7.5 tonnes.

Our DVSA-registered HGV/LGV instructors have extensive experience and provide expert one-to-one training designed to help you pass first time. We also offer shared training options on request. With modern training vehicles, a supportive learning environment, and a proven track record, RSM ensures you’re fully prepared for your C1 / 7.5 tonne driving test.
